My most memorable Christmas was 12-25-72. I was only 20 years old and pregnant. I went into labor Christmas Eve. They had to open the labor and delivery area just for me as they had sent everyone home. Dr. Jones made rounds that night. Who would have thought your child would be born on her due date 12-25-72.
Back then you saw all 3 OB doctors as you never knew who would be on duty when the time came. On Christmas morning 10:28 a.m. my beautiful daughter Kathleen Marie Wood was born.
She was delivered by Dr. Edmonds. She weighed 7 lb. 14 oz.. Believe me she got a lot of attention with us being the only ones on the maternity ward. They even brought her to me one time in a Christmas stocking.
Dr. Stanley Chard made the rounds that evening. The only sad part was that my father was not here to see this as he had passed away earlier that year.
As time went on we would open her birthday presents first then Christmas presents. I know she felt cheated as it was impossible to have birthday parties on Christmas. But we sometimes celebrated on a day of her choice.
But if you had to share a birthday with someone there is no better one than Jesus Christ!
