Pleasant Grove’s seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball squad captured the ORES (Organization of Rural Elementary Schools) Division II state basketball championship for the second year in a row.
Oklahoma Baptist University baseball player Anthony Robertson has been named an NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete, it was announced Wednesday.
Robertson, a junior infielder from Tulsa, is majoring in biology (pre-med).
The All-America Scholar Athlete honor requires a cumulative 3.50 grade point average, junior or senior class status, as well as a full year of attendance at the nominating institution.
Robertson appeared in seven games for OBU in 2009.
The Shawnee Monstars won the recent Little Axe coach-pitch tournament. The squad went undefeated in the tourney, run-ruling every opponent.

The Shawnee Gators 6 and under soccer team competed in the Quickfoot Soccer National qualifier tournament at the Southlakes Soccer complex in Oklahoma City. The Gators finished the tourney as the runner-up, qualifying them for the Quickfoot national championships. They will compete in the Quickfoot national championships Aug. 8-9 in Arlington, Texas.
