Mary Leuvee Strong

Earlsboro native and resident, Mary Leuvee (Belcher) Strong, age 85 passed away peacefully Saturday February 19, 2022. She was born July 21,1936 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Herschel and Leola Belcher. She was the last survivor of 10 siblings. She was raised on a working family farm, and knew the importance of team work, being honest and showing good will to others.

Mary, married the love of her life, Harvey Strong, October 29, 1955. After living in Nebraska, Massachusetts and Oklahoma. They settled in the San Francisco Bay Area of California where they raised their 2 sons Arthur and Robert. Mary was the prefect mother, busy being a homemaker and doing volunteer work. She was President of PTA, Local 4H Leader, Member of Hayward Women’s Club, President of the Strong Family Association of American, coordinator of Citizenship Group taking Scholarship recipients to Washington DC and the New York City. She’s sewed, crocheted and quilted. She was an avid reader and frequently would read a book in a day.

In 1985 Mary and Harvey moved to Oklahoma be close to Mary’s family and he beloved sister Ruth. The Strong’s love traveling and traveled the 48 of states and Hawaii. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She loved people, love to have fun, and to showed others kindness and compassion just as her parents had taught her. She fiercely independent in later life. She was strong, resourceful, and still a loving and sweet little old lady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband of 59 years, and her 9 Brothers and Sisters. She is survived by her sons, Arthur Harvey Strong Jr. and his husband Gene Dodak, Robert Eugene Strong and his wife JoAnne Roberts, a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Mary will be sorely missed by everyone.

A visitation will be held 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 3rd at Resthaven Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 4th at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with internment to follow in Johnson Cemetery. Donations to Johnson Cemetery Fund, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Community Market of Pottawatomie County.
