WWII Veteran and Shawnee resident, Ernest J. Palinkas, died peacefully at the Norman Veterans Center on 04/04/2022. Mr. Palinkas was 98. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut on 10/02/1923, Mr. Palinkas served in the U.S. Army during WWII from December, 1942 to January, 1946. Mr. Palinkas served all of his time during the war in the European theater, serving in France, England and Belgium.
Mr. Palinkas was pre-deceased by his wife of 68-years, Marcella S. Palinkas, who died on 02/26/2016 at the age of 90. Mr. Palinkas is survived by six children, Susan Robinson, of Naugatuck, CT; Linda Rowland of Woodbury, CT; James Palinkas of Shawnee, OK; Ernest Palinkas, Jr., of New Milford, CT; Edward Palinkas of Oakville, CT and Nancy Palinkas of Shawnee, OK, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at a future date to be determined at St. John’s cemetery in Norwalk, Connecticut, where Mr. Palinkas’ remains will be buried next to the remains of his wife, Marcella.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Veteran’s Administration, in general, and the Norman Veterans Center, in particular, for the great care they provided for Mr. Palinkas. After becoming physically disabled, Mr. Palinkas voluntarily resided in the Norman Veteran’s Center for the last year of his life, where he received great and attentive care. All of the staff at the Norman Veterans Center were very good to our father… Thank you.
