Irene Martha Shuffield, former resident of Paden, Oklahoma, passed from this life in Midwest City on April 30, 2022 at the age of 86 years, 5 months, & 24 days. Graveside funeral rites will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10th in the Dale Cemetery at Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Bristow. Irene was born in Bebra, Germany on November 6, 1935 to the late Andreas Hess & Martha (Paul) Hess. She was raised & educated in Germany and later attended culinary school to become a chef. She met Johnnie Melvin Shuffield, Jr. who was in the United States Military & stationed in Germany. They were married on July 24, 1961. In 1963 they moved to Kansas & in 1965 they made their home in McCloud, Oklahoma. In 1988 they moved to Paden, Oklahoma where they remained the rest of their lives. Irene enjoyed crocheting, knitting, camping, playing bingo, bowling, & traveling. Every few years she would return to visit her home in Germany. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2016; a son: Dieter Hess; a daughter: Tracy Crawford; a grandson: Kittrick Johnson; a brother: Herbert Hess; & a sister: Ilse Danzer.

Her remaining family includes 2 daughters: Cinthia Shuffield & Donna Shuffield, both of McCloud; Grandchildren: Jason Kevin Mark Corey Kourtney Preston – & Mitchell; Great Grandchildren: Maximillian Raven Miriam Rylee Ryder – & Guinevere; plus several nieces nephews cousins other relatives – & friends.
