On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Jon “Chris” Christopher Hurley passed away at the age of 61 from lasting effects of covid.
Chris was born in Los Angeles on February 24, 1961 to Jon and Lynn Valliere and resided in Oklahoma after his parents divorced.
Chris was adopted by Dan Hurley after Lynn and Dan married in 1963. Chris graduated Shawnee High School in 1979. While at Shawnee High, he met Gina Dickenson and after graduation they married and soon had three children.
Chris’s career of helping others included work as an EMT, police dispatcher, animal control officer, county drug dog handler, civilian contractor in Afghanistan, and Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department reserve officer. He was also instrumental in starting, organizing, and being a police officer for several Tribal Police Departments: Shawnee Absentee Tribe, Citizen Band Potawatomi Tribe, Kickapoo Tribe, Iowa Tribe. He worked as a liaison between several Tribes, sheriff departments, and local police departments in crossdeputizing of each of the officers with other departments.
In 1984, Chris started Pursuit Unlimited offering affordable, refurbished police cars and equipment to smaller police departments and reserve police officers.
In addition to being a business owner and working in law enforcement, his passion was dirt track racing. He was a strong competitor at the local County Line Speedway for years in various race car classes.
In 2016, Chris married Annette Wagner and resided in Geary, Oklahoma where he continued to enjoy his passions related to law enforcement and car racing. He also enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, fishing, practicing on the shooting range, and relished his time with his numerous animals.
