Verle Deane Gibson passed away on June 4, 2022 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was born on June 9, 1943 to Marcine (Yort) Storie and Dean Dunning.

Verle graduated from Shawnee High School. As a young lady, she was a car-hop at the Dixie Dog drive in, where she met her husband, Bob. They were happily married and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in August. She was also a teacher’s assistant for several years but her greatest accomplishment was being a homemaker and raising her family.

She loved her family and enjoyed doing things for other people. She spoiled her family, friends, pets, and even the neighbor’s pets. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and crafting. She was gifted at making things and especially loved making beautiful Christmas gifts. Anyone who knew her likely had received a precious homemade Angel pin, crocheted Christmas tree, or ornaments.

Verle is preceded in death by her parents Emmit and Marcine (Yort) Storie, biological father Dean Dunning, and brother Harvey Storie.

Verle is survived by husband Bob Gibson of Shawnee, OK; son Trent Gibson and wife Sherry of Tecumseh, OK; daughter Raelina Tucker and husband Mike of Shawnee, OK; brother E.A. Storie of Shawnee, OK; sister Karen Storie Brown of Moore, OK; 8 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

A Public Viewing will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, June 10, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park at the Trinity Chapel. Face masks are encouraged but not required.
