Max E. Brown

Max E. Brown, age 93, of Tecumseh, OK passed from this life on Thursday, August 25, 2022 in Shawnee, OK. He was born February 23, 1929 in Shawnee to Duffy Lewis and Mary (Waggoner) Brown. Max was a lifetime resident of Tecumseh, attending Tecumseh schools, and graduating with the THS class of 1946. He met Rosa Deloris Davis at church and a few years later they were married on August 3, 1951 in Tecumseh. They made their home in Tecumseh, where they raised their 2 children. Max went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Shawnee after graduation, starting as a lineman and held many other positions during his career with them. He worked there for 36 years before his retirement. Max was a longtime, active member of Tecumseh Highland Church of Christ where he taught Bible classes and led singing for 41 years. He was a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association and past President of the Tecumseh Historical Society. Max was a very respected man of the community. He loved OU football, music and gardening. His grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild were the focal point of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Brown; brother, David Brown; and sisters, Violet Smith and Dorothy Taylor. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of over 71 years, Rosa Brown of the home; daughter, Julie Brown of Tecumseh; daughter-in-law, Connie Brown of Tecumseh; 2 grandsons and spouses, Trace and Autumn Brown and Shane and Lori Brown; 4 great grandchildren, Zachary Brown, Colby Brown, Landon Brown and Addyson Brown; 1 great-great grandchild, Maxleigh Rose Brown; and many other family and friends. The family requests that all attendees dress casual. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and continue until service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home with Erick Henson of Tecumseh Highland Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
