Shirley Jean Hasbell, a lifelong resident of Meeker, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Meeker, at the age of 73. Shirley was born on January 27, 1949 in Prague. She was the daughter of Robert Benjamin and Betty Ruth (Wright) Leabo. Shirley was raised in Meeker and graduated from Meeker High School. Shirley and her husband, Leon, owned and operated Payless Tree Service for many years. Shirley was a simple woman. She did not need much to make her happy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching television. She spent the last part of her life, living at the Meeker Nursing Center, where she made some great relationships and great friends. Shirley’s favorite past time was watching the Oklahoma Sooners play football. She never missed a game and would make sure to be able to watch. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Leabo. She is survived by her husband, Leon Hasbell; one daughter, Lisa Wasdin; four grandchildren, Ladonna Sadler, Lucas Wasdin, James Wasdin and Casey Wasdin; two great-grandchildren, LaBella Sadler and Kayden Wasdin; two brothers, Carl Leabo and his wife, Debra and Robert Leabo Jr.; one sister, Linda Essex and a host of family and friends. The family has asked that in Lieu of Flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. All services are private.
