Mary Catherine Wood Muse was born on December 24, 1935 in Lovington, New Mexico and passed to her eternal home on October 27, 2022 in Oklahoma City, OK. Mary was the daughter of Paul Revere Wood and Margaret Catherine Wood. Since her birthday fell on Christmas Eve, the holiday was always doubly special. She was married to Sammy Leon Muse for 69 years. They had two daughters, Cindy Morgan and Sherri Fina.
The girls were her world as she enjoyed being a full time homemaker and mother. Sam was a career Army soldier and so Mary had the opportunity to travel and live in many places including New Mexico, Texas, North Carolina and Germany. She loved the Lord and was a faithful Christian woman. She loved Christian music and enjoyed fishing and camping in her younger days. She enjoyed watching classic TV shows and Christian TV. When she and Sam moved back to Oklahoma after retirement, they purchased a farm and raised goats, peacocks, emus and other animals and she really loved the goats and her dogs. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Sherri Lynn Fina, her parents and her brother Burleigh Bernard Wood. She is survived by her husband, Sam of the home, her sister Pamela Ballard of Byhalia, MS, and her daughter Cynthia Olivia Morgan and her husband Roy Clay “Skip” Morgan and son-in-law Jerry Fina; her grandsons Sammy Jeremy Tietz, Micheal Bradley Tietz, George Fina and Jesse Waylan Fina; Great grandchildren Aaron Alexis Tietz and Aubrey Alexia Tietz; Joey Micheal Tietz, Skylar Bradley Tietz, Micah David Tietz and Owen Newell Tietz; Ryan Fina and Leela Yoshina Fina.
Mary was deeply loved by her family. They describe her as being a “giving person”. If she saw a need she was quick to act to help others, both family and friends alike. She was lovingly cared for by Sam for many years as her health declined. Also, the family is very grateful for the help and care that grandson Sammy Tietz has given these past weeks when her health worsened. Mary will be deeply missed and her family will cherish her and the sweet memories of her kindness to all she knew.
