The honorees and finalists list for the 2024 Best of Tri-County Area Preps Awards Gala is out and registration for the June 4 event is underway.
Student honorees and finalists can attend the Gala free of charge but must RSVP to receive a free ticket in their name. There is no admission to the Gala without a ticket. Parents and guests wishing to attend can purchase tickets for $25 each.
The annual Gala recognizes the News-Star’s Athletes of the Week from the entire school year. Student finalists have been nominated for Player of the Year awards in numerous sports, from football and baseball to softball, Cross Country and more.
An overall male and female Athlete of the Year will be named, and there will awards presented to both a Boys and Girls Coach of the Year and well as several other special awards.
This year’s Student of the Month finalists also will be honored, with numerous scholarships available. The student named the overall Student of the Year will win a new car from Patriot Auto Group.
So far, about half of the student honorees who are invited to the event have registered. These student invitees represent less-than 5% of students in grades 9-12 across the 14 high schools that the News-Star covers for Preps. It is a huge honor to be invited to the Gala and the News-Star wants to make sure every student honoree has the opportunity to attend.
Registration for student invitee tickets as well as General Admission tickets sales end on May 24. Everyone MUST have a ticket issued in their name to be allowed entry to the Gala.
A student’s ticket does not get their parents or guests in the door. A student’s invitation letter also does not get them in the door – students must email an RSVP to receive an official ticket by email for entry.

Parents, guests or any others wanting to attend can purchase General Admission tickets online. There is Preps button at the top right of news-star.com.
