The Prague Lady Red Devils, behind three top 10 efforts, claimed the 2-mile Class 3A regional cross country team championship last Saturday at North Rock Creek High School.
Prague posted a team score of 82, followed by Bethel High School in second place at 93.
Sophomore Hailey Johnson, of Prague, set the pace with a time of 12:11.76.
Teammate and freshman Hannah Rolette was third in 12:28.02 and another freshman teammate in Jocelyn Ward took 10th in 12:51.97.
Also for Prague, junior Harley Johnson posted a time of 14:02.57 for 29th place and freshman Nancy Worlund covered the distance in 14:35.24 for 48th place.
Bethel’s top finisher was senior Kylie Nunneley, who registered a time of 12:34.82 for fifth place. Her teammate and sophomore Kimberlin Taylor clocked in at 13:01.57 for 11th place and freshman Claira Arnold posted a time of 13:34.41 for 17th place.
In addition for Bethel, sophomore Rianna Tinsley finished 28th in 14:00.00 and junior Grace Epperley ended up 43rd with a time of 14:28.63.
Both Prague and Bethel qualify for state.
Prague boys fifth in 3A regional
Landon Hubert placed 17th in 17:56.13 and fellow Samuel Newport ended up 18th in 17:56.47 to lead the Red Devils to a fifth-place finish in the 5k 3A regional.
Also for Prague, sophomore Aidan Thomas took 26th in 18:54.34, sophomore Hunter Worley finished 32nd in 19:32.53, freshman Moses Burdine claimed 40th in 20:01.86 and sophomore Yahir Sanchez ended up 44th in 20:13.11.
The Red Devils qualified for state as a team.
Bethel placed 10th as a team with sophomore Aiden Johnson taking 48th in 20:35.75 and junior Isaias Garcia claiming 49th in 20:33.57.
McLoud third, NRC sixth in Class 4A girls’ regional
The Lady Redskins rolled to a third-place finish in the regional led by three runners in the top 18.
Freshman Ella Crouch posted a time of 12:34.20 for fourth place individually in the two-mile race to top McLoud’s effort.
Junior Emma Bellah clocked in at 13:17.16 for 14th place for the Lady Redskins and teammates Dawsen Branum registered a finish of 13:30.24 for 18th place.
Sophomore Hailey Poindexter was 24th in 13:43.68 and Maribel Hernandez, also a sophomore, finished 44th in 14:23.46 for McLoud.
Tecumseh High School senior Harper Stone took 19th with a time of 13:31.66 as she qualified for state.
North Rock Creek’s top placer was freshman Presleigh Ablay in 13:36.48 for 20th place as the Lady Cougars qualified for state as a team.
Rounding out the top five for NRC were freshman Dru Houghton, 32nd in 13:57.61; junior Abby Bloyed, 34th in 14:05.30; junior Jayne Ford, 36th in 14:10.35 and sophomore Ally Fichtner, 40th in 14:15.74.
Seminole High School’s top runner was junior Gracie Stark, who placed 28th in 13:50.09.
McLoud boys fourth in 4A regional
The Redskins finished fourth in the team standings and earned a state berth with junior Kendall Shawnee leading the way with a 20th place finish in 17:49.08 in the 5k event.
Junior Boyd Hamby took 29th in 18:10.50. Junior Zane Roughley placed 30th in 18:11.13; junior Jacob Melendez took 32nd in 18:25.33 and sophomore Ryan Copeland ended up 38th in 18:45.99.
North Rock Creek claimed 13th with freshman Kypton Battershell leading the way with a time of 18:26.98 for 34th place. Battershell qualified for state with his effort.
Tecumseh’s top placer was Tim Wallace who covered the distance in 18:56.83 for 43rd place.
Grady Tiger led Seminole with a 54th place effort in 19:11.60.
Dale’s Strange places 16th in 2A regional
Dale High School senior Kaleigh Strange posted a time of 14:10.82 for 16th place in the two-mile Class 2A regional at NRC.
Strange qualified for state with her finish.
Meeker High School had four runners competing with sophomore Payton Trotter leading the way with a time of 14:28.50. Trotter qualified for state as well
On the boys’ side, Meeker freshman Hunter Harness finished 29th in the 5k race with a time of 21:00.59 as he earned a spot at the state meet.
Earlsboro teams compete in A regional at Henryetta
HENRYETTA – The Lady Wildcats finished eighth in the Class A regional and the Wildcats were 10th on the boys’ side.
In the two-mile girls’ race, freshman Peighton Worley led the way with a 22nd place finish in 14:58.20.
Teammate Zeaonna McGregor, also a freshman, registered a time of 15:21.65 for 31st place. Sophomore Karmalea Howell was 33rd in 15:24.24. Sophomore Aha Roubidoux took 36th in 15:30.56 and junior Xalina McCarroll ended up 56th in 17:08.83.
Worley is a state qualifier.
In the 5k boys’ race, Earlsboro’s top finisher was junior Brayden Rawls, who clocked in at 20:12.45 for 24th place. Next for the Wildcats was freshman Taziah Soap in 21:12.44 for 41st place.
Rawls qualified for state as well.
Macomb High School sophomore Gerardo Flores ended up 58th in 22:05.68.
