Shawnee swept Tulsa Hale Friday night in their final regular season games this year. Both teams were missing important pieces, but didn’t let those absences stop them.
Lady Wolves 59, Hale 3
After Josie Megehee was injured against Tuttle Thursday, she was held out of Friday’s Senior Night game. Her loss was a problem in the Lady Wolves’ 44-33 loss at 4A No. 11 Tuttle, but Friday night, the Lady Wolves won easily without her in the lineup.
Chrissy Milam scored the first four points of the night for Shawnee and that proved to be all the points they would need as the Lady Rangers only had two shots go through the rim.
Shawnee led 19-0 after the first quarter. Tulsa Hale’s first points came a minute into the second quarter. Shawnee extended the lead to 31-2 at halftime.
The Lady Rangers were held scoreless again in the third quarter and the Lady Wolves led 50-2 after
three quarters.
Tulsa Hale scored again on a free throw with 3:22 left in the game, but the Lady Wolves finished them off 59-3.
Tarilyn Thierry led Shawnee with 13 points and Milam had a dozen. Serenity Casteel scored nine points and Daley Rice added eight. Tatyanna Thierry and Aniya Kowena each added five.
After 15 games in four weeks, Shawnee is finally getting an off-week to get healthy.
Wolves 48, Hale 42
Shawnee was playing without Edan Litherland and Zyron Campbell Friday night after a 59-58 win at Tuttle Thursday.
Shawnee leaned on its seniors Friday night with Toby Gray and Isaiah Smith getting extra playing time and Carter Whipkey taking over as the leading scorer for the game.
Normally a 3-point shooter, Whipkey used his defense to create opportunities to drive to the basket Friday night to score 16 points to lead the Wolves.
Shawnee trailed 12-11 after the first quarter, and the teams were tied at 19-19 at the half.
But Aidon Siqueiros came alive with 13 of his 15 points coming in the third quarter as the Wolves raced to an 11-point lead at 38-27.
Tulsa Hale cut it to five at one point in the fourth but Shawnee held on for a 48-42 win.
Whipkey led the way with 16 and Siqueiros added 15. Smith scored five and Rahmel Slaughter and Daytain Patton each added four.
