  • American Legion Post 260, at 206 E. Park in Tecumseh, is hosting its weekly pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event features all-you-can-eat pancakes for $8. Also, Country and Western dancing is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a live band; all ages welcome.

July 26-27 (Saturday and Sunday)

  • Herps Reptile Expo starts at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and until 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center, 1700 W. Independence. The event features thousands of reptiles, amphibians, inverts, feeders, small mammals, supplies, and more available for purchase. Cost is $10 for adults (1 day); $15 per adults (2 days) $5 for kids ages 5-12 (1 day); $8 for kids ages 5-12 (2 days); and children 4 years old and younger are always free.

The “Alpha Series” provides a practical Gospel applied to everyday life and to how God can change persons. Sharing will be done in a non-threatening, accepting, and confidential atmosphere, led by persons of like struggles. The Group meets at Northridge Church of Christ, Youth Annex (north building), 1001 E. MacArthur in Shawnee on Mondays, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Interested persons need only come and be welcomed.

  • From 9 a.m. to noon, OESC’s Disabled Veteran’s Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist Dru Tischer is available at the new veterans museum to assist veterans who need employment services and may have trouble getting to the Workforce Center. Services include: a comprehensive assessment, identifying each client’s barriers, education, skills, needs, and goals; employment assistance; education/training assistance; job search assistance; resume assistance; supportive service referrals, like offering referrals to agencies like SNAP, TANF, VA Claims, VR&E, housing, and vet centers; Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), a Federal tax credit for employers hiring from targeted populations with employment barriers; and Federal Bonding, reducing employment barriers for justice-involved individuals re-entering the workforce. The Pottawatomie County Veterans Museum is inside the former Carnegie Library building, on Broadway just south of the Veterans Memorial at Woodland Park. This service is provided at this location on the first Wednesday each month.
