SHAWNEE — The American Red Cross of South Central and Southeast Oklahoma and partners have organized a food and hygiene drive to benefit local military communities impacted by the ongoing government shutdown.
“The Red Cross helps members of the military, veterans, their families and caregivers cope with the challenges of service,” said Marama Bayles-Raleigh, Red Cross Regional Director of Service to the Armed Forces and International Services. “Our military partners alerted us to the uncertainty that military members face in the days ahead. Together, we’re encouraging communities to come together to support them and offer some peace of mind.”
The drive began Oct. 27 and runs through Nov. 7. Donations can be dropped off by appointment at the Red Cross, 700 E Independence St., Shawnee.
