The Shawnee Ministerial Association (SMA) Community Ecumenical Lenten Worship Series wraps up today. The worship series is scheduled for noon. A fellowship meal follows a short worship. The meal is provided by the host church with donations accepted to help off-set the cost of the meal. The public is invited to share in both the short worship and the fellowship meal. Over the past several years, the Community Ecumenical Lenten Worship Series has brought together Christians from different traditions in a shared worship experience and opportunity for fellowship. The series finishes today with St. Bendict Catholic Church, 632 N. Kickapoo hosting.
- Registration is open for today’s Gateway to Prevention and Recovery R.A.W. Luncheon at Life.Church, in Shawnee. Those attending can visit resource tables from 11:15 a.m. until noon. - The Third Thursday Poetry Reading begins at 7 p.m. at The Lunch Box, 217 E. Main Street. This month’s event welcomes storyteller Rick Masters, from Norman. A regular, Masters has entertained folks in the past with memories of streaking at OU, favorite dream cars, ice cream trucks and the urge to collect things (anything). After his tales will be open mic, as usual. The Lunch Box will open at 6 p.m. for those who want drinks or desserts.

Services include: a comprehensive assessment, identifying each client’s barriers, education, skills, needs, and goals; employment assistance; education/training assistance; job search assistance; resume assistance; supportive service referrals, like offering referrals to agencies like SNAP, TANF, VA Claims, VR&E, housing, and vet centers; Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), a Federal tax credit for employers hiring from targeted populations with employment barriers; and Federal Bonding, reducing employment barriers for justice-involved individuals re-entering the workforce. The Pottawatomie County Veterans Museum is inside the former Carnegie Library building, on Broadway just south of the Veterans Memorial at Woodland Park. This service is provided at this location on the first Wednesday each month.
