Keylee Nicole Johnson

Keylee Nicole Johnson, 22, of Shawnee, left earth early on Friday morning June 10, 2022. Keylee blessed her parents, Mark Johnson and Carol Swift-Johnson, with her birth on March 27, 2000. Keylee graduated from Oklahoma Connections High School and went on to Oklahoma Baptist University, Oklahoma University and then Rose State College. She was working to get her RN degree with hopes of becoming a doctor in the geriatric field.

Keylee was an artistic soul who loved to draw, go to museums, and loved to dance and listen to music. Keylee was the ultimate girly girl who loved shopping and getting her nails done but hated cleaning house or doing anything outdoors that might result in encountering a bug. or spiders! Keylee was smart, beautiful, and kind. She couldn’t stand anyone being mad at her, and always went out of her way to help others in need, whether she knew them or not. Her favorite way to spend an evening was eating out and going to the movies with her mama and dad, and she also enjoyed sunsets. Her love language was giving and receiving gifts, especially stuffed animals, letters and cards.

Keylee is survived by her parents, Carol Swift-Johnson and Mark Johnson, Uncle Robin Johnson, brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Tracey Johnson, sister Tabitha Johnson. Other family who cherished and loved her include Sara and Bear Deer, great aunt and uncle Juanita and Mac MacAnally, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the granddaughter of the late Marjorie and David Swift, Shawnee, and Robert Johnson and Carmalita Buckmaster.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday from 4pm-8pm, Thursday & Friday 8am-8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home 44909 Hwy 3 Shawnee, OK. The family requests anyone stopping by during visitation to please bring a memento card or note or a stuffed animal and leave it for her. Stuffed animals and cards brought Keylee so much joy. Private burial will take place for family only at a later date.

Keylee’s life shouldn’t have ended the way it did. Keylee suffered from mental health issues which contributed to her death but because the healthcare system is dysfunctional, she was unable to receive the help she desperately needed. Maybe the loss of this wonderful young person will help to inspire a change in our healthcare system. Then, at least then the loss won’t be in total vain.

Special thanks goes out to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office for the way they have pursued justice for Keylee. The family is very grateful to the men and women who are continuing to work to find the truth and bring peace to those who loved Keylee Nicole Johnson.
