Shawnee was limited to just five hits Friday night as it concluded its 2008 regular season with an 8-2 setback to McAlester at Memorial Park.
After McAlester put up two runs in the top of the first inning, Shawnee got both of its runs in the bottom of the frame.
Starter Dakota Blanchard took the loss after going the first three innings. Derek Hawkins pitched the final four innings.
McAlester tallied two runs in the second, three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Hawkins had an RBI single in the first inning. Tajhler Phillips and Cale Young scored for the Wolves, who fell to 12-21.
Shawnee will launch Class 5A regional tournament play Tuesday versus Western Heights in a 3:30 p.m. game at Chickasha. The opener Tuesday will pit top-seeded Chickasha versus fourth-seeded Capitol Hill at 1 p.m.
If Shawnee upends Western Heights, it will play again Wednesday at noon. Should Shawnee fall to Western Heights, it would turn around and play at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday versus the Chickasha-Capitol Hill loser.
