Seven Tri-County baseball teams will launch their quests for state tournament berths Thursday when regional tournament play originates at six sites.
All of the regionals will be played under a double-elimination format with the champions earning state tourney berths.
Class 4A: McLoud and Seminole
Seventh-ranked McLoud (24-14), which will be in a host role, will tackle 15th-ranked Cushing at 1:30 p.m. Ninth-ranked McGuinness and 10th-ranked Blanchard will play at 3:30.
Seminole (23-11), ranked 13th, will travel to Tuttle and oppose unranked Madill at 3:30. The 1:30 game will feature No. 4 Tuttle and unranked Byng.
Class 3A: Bethel and Chandler
In action slated for Bethel Acres, the second-ranked Wildcats (27-4) will go up against unranked Washington at 1:30. In the 3:30 matchup, 15th-ranked Heritage Hall will oppose unranked Mount St. Mary.
Fifth-ranked Chandler will entertain unranked Alva at 1:30. Two unranked teams, Kingfisher and Perry, will battle at 3:30.
Class 2A: Dale, Stroud and Wellston
Dale’s Pirates, ranked third, will travel to unranked Hobart will kick off the day at 1:30, followed by 12th-ranked Mangum and 13th-ranked Cordell at 3:30.
Although it is unranked, Stroud will entertain unranked Hennessey at 1:30. In the 3:30 contest, sixth-ranked Tushka will oppose unranked Tonkawa.
At Wellston, the Tigers will face Watonga at 1:30 p.m. Crescent and Oktaha will play at 3:30. No. 2 Oktaha is the only ranked entrant.
The state tournaments are slated for May 8-10.
