A home in Bethel Acres was damaged by fire Monday afternoon and cause of the blaze is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
Bethel Fire Chief Paul Franetovich said no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Homeowners Jason and Macie Elliott are staying with relatives and he said damage to the home was “pretty extensive.”
The fire started in a bedroom of the double-wide mobile home at 34604 Clearpond Road.
Shawnee Fire Department Battalion Chief Curt Lamastus said Shawnee crews ran an automatic response to the Bethel fire, where both Bethel and Shawnee crews worked the scene.
The home was about 30 percent engulfed in flames when Lamastus arrived, he said. Upon interior attack, fire damage was contained to one end of the home, but the rest sustained smoke and heat damage. The home was insured, he said.
