A Halloween block party for children will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday on Rollingstone between Hardwood Grove and Pecan streets in Tecumseh.
Victoria Whited, coordinator of the event, said “there is no age limit” for those who want to join in. Hot dogs will be served, games will be played and candy will be passed out.
“It’s just going to be good, clean fun. It’s going to be safe,” Whited said.
Whited said she wants the children to join the block party instead of trick-or-treating, for safety reasons. She said two of the community’s children found shards of metal in their candy last Halloween.
Volunteers will be present for the block party, and Whited said they are “people I trust.”
“It’s a win-win situation,” she said.
State Rep. Shane Jett also will attend the party, Whited said.
