St. Gregory's University sponsors free concert Sunday evening.

St. Gregory’s University is presenting a free Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. this Sunday in the historic St. Gregory’s Abbey Church on campus. All are invited to attend the Festival of Lessons and Carols, which will feature seasonal music performed by the SGU Chorale, as well as readings from scripture that narrate the story of Advent and Christmas.

The SGU Chorale is comprised of students and staff and is conducted by Br. Damian Whalen, O.S.B., Ph.D. The choir will be accompanied for this special performance by Ron Lewis on organ and keyboard, Thresa Swadley on cello and handbell ringers from the Chorale.

Scripture readings will be proclaimed by members of the SGU student body and staff, and St. Gregory’s Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen, O.S.B., will preside over the concert.

“Amid the busyness of the end of the semester and the approaching holidays, our annual Lessons and Carols provides a time to stop and reflect on the meaning of Christmas,” Whalen said.
