Earlsboro, Tecumseh Fire Departments receive grant.

The Earlsboro Fire Department and Tecumseh Fire Department have received a $1,000 training grant from TRANSCAER (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response), a voluntary national outreach effort that focuses on assisting communities in preparing for and to responding to a possible hazardous material transportation incident.

Recently, members of the Earlsboro and Tecumseh Fire Departments completed a joint hazardous materials transportation training, where crews trained in proper hazardous materials firefighting tactics and used foam to suppress a simulated tanker fire. Crews received additional training on apparatus use, foam applications, water supply, and offensive and defensive operations for hazardous materials.

TRANSCAER was founded in 1986 by Union Pacific Railroad and The Dow Chemical Company and has since worked closely with first responder agencies to better prepare communities for a transportation incident involving hazardous materials.
