A Shawnee man was killed along an icy stretch of U.S. 177 Monday morning.

The traffic accident occurred about 8:17 a.m. near Lone Star Road, located a few miles south of Tecumseh.

Carreon Everardo, 27, died at the scene from his injuries, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Trooper Justin Miller’s reports shows Everardo was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang northbound when his vehicle crossed the center line.

The OHP reported the Mustang struck a southbound 2012 Ford pickup driven by Kevin Sayers 38, Harrah.

Seat belts were equipped and in use in both vehicles. According to the trooper, Everardo was ejected upon impact and died at the scene.

The two-lane undivided highway was icy at the time of the crash, the OHP reported.

The collision shut down U.S. 177 for more than an hour and traffic was slow moving through that area most of the morning.

Tecumseh firefighters and REACT EMS paramedics responded to the scene.

Trooper Miller was assisted by Trooper Steve Johnson and deputies from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, the report shows.
