A break-in and fire caused some damage this morning at the Pottawatomie County courthouse in Shawnee.
Sheriff Mike Booth said a suspect broke into the front doors of the courthouse and tried to set the courthouse on fire just inside the lobby area.
Booth said the fire was put out but there but there was smoke throughout the building.
Deputies and fire marshals are investigating, Booth said. They have been collecting evidence at the scene all morning, including containers with a flammable liquid.
Cleanup has been ongoing all morning but Booth said the courthouse is open again.
This same incident occurred Tuesday morning at the juvenile services building in Shawnee.
