The Avedis Foundation has provided funding to help with many area projects, from Shawnee Splash to the Maud pool, local trails and many more.

As part of the continuing process to enhance life for area residents, the Avedis Foundation will launch a new initiative in Shawnee in Spring 2016 called Community Renewal.

The goal of Community Renewal is to bring together caring partners and implement proven strategies to restore the foundation of caring relationships across our community.

For that effort, Avedis needs input from the community so a survey is being sent to all households in the 74801 and 74804 zip codes to help collect information that will help to identify strengths and challenges in the Shawnee community.

Every Shawnee household has recently received or will soon receive a survey packet in their mailbox.

“We hope that a large percentage of Shawnee residents will complete the survey in order to let their voices be heard as we lay the groundwork for launching Community Renewal,” said Paula Waters, program director of the Avedis Foundation.

Residents can complete the survey and mail it in the postage paid envelope provided or choose one of the additional options for participating, either by phone or through an on-line survey link.

Waters said the deadline for submitting the surveys is Sept. 1. Answers will remain anonymous and will not be linked to individuals who respond.

“We’re excited to see how the results of this survey will help us address identified needs through Community Renewal, said Brandon Dyer, director, Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County.
