James A. “Jim” Clifton Jr., 72, lifelong resident of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, in Oklahoma City.

James A. “Jim” Clifton Jr., 72, lifelong resident of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, in Oklahoma City.

He was born March 19, 1943, to James Arnold and Helen “Marguerite” (Fox) Clifton in Shawnee.

Jim was raised in Shawnee and attended St. Benedicts Catholic Schools. He was a 1961 graduate of St. Benedicts Catholic Schools.

He married Shirley “Jeanne” Barton on Dec. 31, 1976, at St. Patrick’s Church in Oklahoma City.

Jim was the printer and manager of American Printing Company in Shawnee for 50 years. He printed the legal paper every Friday. He was a good friend to all the people he worked with over the years and a good family man.

He served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Paul Abel. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to go fishing with his cousin, John Clifton and enjoyed hauling hay and running cattle with his friend Boots Lasley.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marguerite Clifton.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Clifton of the home; son, Jaimy Clifton; brother, Joe Clifton; nephew, Jody Clifton; two great-nieces, Tiffany and Abigal; unofficial adopted daughter, Kelli Kinnett London; and other extended family and many friends.
