Jeffery Miles Duncan, 61, lifelong resident of the Shawnee/Tecumseh area, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in Shawnee.

Jeffery Miles Duncan, 61, lifelong resident of the Shawnee/Tecumseh area, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in Shawnee.

He was born Sept. 29, 1954, to Woodrow Jay and Ozella (Culp) Duncan in Konawa.

Jeffery was raised in Asher and attended Asher Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1972. He loved baseball and was a great baseball player. Jeffrey attended Oklahoma Baptist University and earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education on a baseball scholarship from Asher High School.

He married Gyula Kay Blythe on June 29, 1974, in Asher.

Jeffery worked for the Shawnee Public School system for 35 years.

His greatest joy in life was spending time and playing with his grandchildren; they were the focal point of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Helen Lockerby.

Jeffery is survived by his wife, Gyula Duncan of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Joshua Singleton of Prague; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Nikohlie Duncan of Glen Rose, Texas; two grandchildren, Bailey Singleton and Emma Singleton; brother, Stanley Duncan of Henderson, Texas; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, and continue until service time.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at Collins Cemetery in St. Louis, Oklahoma, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
