On the evening of Nov. 1, 2015, Roger passed away at his home in Shawnee. Roger was being visited and comforted by family members. Roger was 39 years old.

Roger McCoin was born in Seminole on June 5, 1976. He was the second child of Earlean McCoin Powers and Roger McCoin Sr.

Roger graduated from Seminole High School in 1994. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Central University.

Roger is an educator, once a teacher and now an assistant principal in the Shawnee School District in Shawnee. There, he has touched the lives of so many students and has been a positive influence and a role model for them. He stands as a pillar in the community and represents everything that is good, right and decent in our world.

Roger is a loving husband to his wife Sarah, who together enjoy scuba diving and traveling to exotic locations. Roger loved the ocean and was an avid scuba diver, dive master, and dive instructor. Roger is deeply loved by his mother, step-father, brother and sister and everyone in his extended family. His friends are many and extended well beyond the borders of Oklahoma.

Roger is survived by and was the beloved husband of Sarah E. McCoin (nee Stanley); loving son of Earlene (Rex) Powers and the late Roger L. McCoin Sr., and loving brother of Andrea (Louis) Barrale and Stewart McCoin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Shawnee High School PAC Center (1001 N. Kennedy Ave., Shawnee, OK 74801).

Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church (37496 New Hope Rd., Tecumseh, OK 74873).
