The Asher boys and girls basketball teams ran through Butner in their season openers Tuesday at Asher. The boys won their game 58-29 while the girls crushed the Lady Eagles 77-23

The Indians boys took the lead early, never giving it up to take the win.

Preston Patton led the team with 23 points followed by Logan Lucy with 14 and Chris McDonald with eight. Junior Hasbell and Hunter Seright each contributed four.

Chase Morthis led Butner, scoring more than half of their total with 17 points in the contest.

Tarin Dubler led the way for the Lady Indians with 25 points and nine steals in their game.

Shelby Fleming had 22 points, Sarah Fleming added nine and Ashley Odell contributed seven. Odell was the only Asher girl to sink a three.

The Lady Indians shut out Butner 26-0 in the first quarter and allowed only a free throw in the second to lead 46-20 at halftime.

They maintained their lead, outscoring the Lady Eagles 19-8 in the third before getting behind with a 14-12 difference in fourth.

The Asher teams will host Stonewall on Friday.
