Inspired by the creativity of children, Vyve Broadband is hosting a Christmas card contest.
“The idea came from one of our technicians in McAlester who shared a drawing his daughter did,” Dave Harwood, Vyve representative, said. “She decided we needed a mascot and drew a yellow Vyve emu.”
Now, 50 schools over nine states are participating. Locally, Will Rogers, Jefferson and the Early Childhood Center will be submitting their designs.
“We decided to focus on the younger kids because of their enthusiasm for Christmas,” Harwood said. “Every kid just lights up at Christmas time.”
The contest is open to all children ages 3 through 12. Harwood said they don’t have to be a student at a participating school and their families do not have to be Vyve customers.
The winning school will get a hot cocoa party and $200 for art supplies; the winning child will receive a free iPad mini.
The deadline to enter is Monday, Nov. 9. For more information, visit www.vyvebroadband.com/cardcontest.
