Ollie Starnes-Payne, 64, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
She was born March 6, 1952, to Gentry and Mattie O. (Moore) Starnes in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Ollie was raised in Wewoka and attended Wewoka Public Schools. She was active in band, vocal music and a member of Tri-Hi-Y and served as vice president. Ollie graduated with the class of 1970 from Wewoka High School.
She married Bobby Payne in 1972 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2009.
Ollie worked for Custom Size for two months before the name was changed to Lillian Russell where she worked for five years. She also worked for Gerdes Garden Center, Round House, Absentee Bandage and as assistant manager for Finley Cleaners for 25 years.
Ollie loved to decorate for Christmas. Her motto was treat people the way you want to be treated and love them unconditionally no matter what their circumstances may be.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Bobby Payne; sister, Lottie Lee Starnes; and brothers, Ivory Joe Starnes, Gentry Starnes, Jerry Starnes and Melvin Bruner.
Ollie is survived by her loving daughter and son, Lakeesha Michelle Ponder and Jamelle Payne; very very special grandchildren, Davebreon Starnes and Ariam Harris; the Starnes sistas, Ola Mae Blakely, Imogene Bruner, Mattie Ruth Booker and Theresa Ann Starnes; and the brothas, Richard Don Bruner, Henry Starnes, Johnnie James Starnes and Keath Starnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special loving uncle, Marvin Moore, and other extended family, friends and loving neighbors.
Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Brooks of Voice of Praise in Oklahoma City officiating. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
