Late second-quarter surge ignites Fire to Game 1 win over Enid
ENID - After edging the Enid Outlaws by one point in the regular season road finale just one week prior, the Potawatomi Fire used a late second-quarter surge to pull away for a 122-98 victory in Game 1 of a best-of-three first-round series Thursday night in The Basketball League (TBL) playoffs at Stride Bank Arena. Down 40-39 with 5:51 to go before halftime, the Fire closed the second quarter with a massive 14-2 run and then scored the first seven points in the third period to coast the rest of the way against a team which fell 116-115 to Potawatomi on May 22 at Stride Bank Arena.

Boy Scout Park's splash pad construction continues
While many Shawnee residents flock to Splash in Woodland Veterans Park every summer, there’s a smaller version in town often overlooked by all except residents living in the area around Rotary Briscoe Boy Scout Park. Right now, many are watching and waiting for reconstruction of the splash pad to be finished as summer heat amps up and park neighbors seek some relief.
OSU partners with OSDE to elevate physical education in schools
Oklahoma State University is supporting Oklahoma Pre-K through 12th grade schools in enhancing physical education through a partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Schools selected for the initiative may receive up to $10,000 in reimbursement for exercise equipment, along with mentoring, professional development, and participation in a virtual community of practice led by OSU’s Human Performance and Nutrition Research Institute and OSU Center for Health Sciences Project ECHO.
