SSC and Citizen Potawatomi Nation partnership recognized at statewide ceremony

Seminole State College and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation (CPN) were recently honored for their decades-long partnership supporting education, business development, and regional economic growth. The collaboration was recognized at the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award ceremony, held May 6 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

Bouchum shines in debut as Fire routs Lightning 139-97

Ke’Tarrious ‘TK’ Bouchum made the most of a first impression Friday night at Firelake Arena. Playing in his first game for the Potawatomi Fire, Bouchum was ultraefficient, going 11-of-14 from the floor, scoring a game-high 25 points, grabbing seven rebounds, handing out four assists and registering one steal in a 139-97 Potawatomi victory over the Little Rock Lightning in The Basketball League (TBL).

OBU's Prison Divinity Program celebrates first graduating class

Oklahoma Baptist University celebrated a historic achievement on May 7 as the first cohort of its Prison Divinity Program (PDP) graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Christian Studies. The commencement ceremony, which recognized the achievements of incarcerated students who had completed the rigorous four-year program, was held at the Recreation and Wellness Center on the OBU campus.

Sequoyah Elementary was bustling with business as 5th-grade students brought innovation and entrepreneurship to life during the school’s long-standing project-based learning event, Economic City. Led by 5th-grade teachers Taryn Burks and Mikayla Brannam, the event gave students an opportunity to experience economics in action by creating and running their own small businesses.
