McLoud Historical Society is hosting a Spring tea for princes and princesses of all ages on Saturday, May 3, from 1-3 p.m. at McLoud Museum, 421 W. Broadway. To help cover the cost of supplies, there is a small donation at the door.
CHOCTAW – A Kelbey Welcher home run and two hits from Teague Muncy weren’t enough Tuesday as the Dale Lady Pirates dropped a 9-4 decision to Choctaw in slow-pitch softball action.
Celebrated annually on the first Saturday of May in Prague, the vibrant festival that honors Czech heritage is scheduled this weekend in Prague. A parade, music, dancing, and food - including the beloved kolache pastry - are part of the festivities.
STUART – The Asher Lady Indians saw their slow-pitch softball season come to an end Tuesday in a Class B regional.
WEATHERFORD – The Bethel High School girls’ team recently posted a third-place finish at a Class 3A Regional at the Prairie West Golf Course.
Lexington edges McLoud 4-3 in Friday baseball action
[EDITOR'S NOTE: Two students are being honored for each month from September to April of the 2024-25 school year, named as nominees for the Best of Tri-County Area Preps Student of the Year award, which will be announced at the News-Star's Preps gala on June 3.] Rachelle Canaga and Austin Dong have been named The Shawnee News-Star and CPN Students of the Month for March and are now finalists for the Student of the Year award. Canaga is a senior at Shawnee High School and Dong is a senior at North Rock Creek High School.
Ethan Berger’s sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the seventh lifted the Shawnee Wolves to a 6-5 victory over Pauls Valley Thursday night at Memorial Park’s Ed Skelton Field. On Friday, Perkins-Tryon held off Shawnee for a 5-3 decision.
Between bouts of rain, work started last week on the mural at Jefferson Elementary School. With at least two more weeks of rain expected in the forecast, the project may encounter several delays in the coming days.
