One step closer to real progress

Here at the Capitol, springtime doesn’t just bring warmer weather, it also brings a flurry of legislative activity as we work hard to move important bills across the finish line. I’m happy to report that we’ve just passed a major milestone in that process, Senate Bills and Resolutions have now cleared their oversight, rules and appropriations committees.

Gear Up for National Bike and Roll to School Day

Shape Your Future, a program of the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET), is encouraging Oklahoma students, families and school staff to get active and roll into class this May 8 in celebration of National Bike and Roll to School Day. The event also encourages communities across the state to promote safe, accessible routes for students who choose to bike, walk, scoot, skate or roll to school - including those in wheelchairs, strollers or other mobility devices.

Green and Gold Gala marks new milestone on Bison Hill

About 700 alumni, friends and supporters gathered April 1 on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University for a night that marked not just the 10th Green and Gold Gala, but a defining moment in OBU’s historic journey toward the future. Held for the first time on Bison Hill, the biennial event broke new ground with a record sponsorship total of $391,000, which was $132,000 more than the previous event, and a tremendous fundraising total of $502,885 for the university’s bold Shape the Future campaign.
