It appears the Shawnee Board of Education may be closer to hiring a new superintendent for Shawnee Public Schools.
Shawnee High School freshmen recently participated in an etiquette luncheon hosted at Oklahoma Baptist University, thanks to a partnership between OBU's Dickinson School of Business and First United Bank. The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to visit the OBU campus, experience a formal five-course meal, and receive instruction on proper dining etiquette and professional conduct.
The Tecumseh Lady Savages and Dale Lady Pirates each got off to 2-0 starts on Thursday in the Dale Festival at the Ballfields at FireLake. Tecumseh rallies past Pryor 6-4, slams Shattuck 20-9 Tecumseh 6, Pryor 4 Jessi Hull hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and Embrie Smith delivered a three-run double to center field which proved to be the difference in the fifth as the Lady Savages rallied from a 4-0 deficit.
Dale rolls past Newcastle 6-3 in Friday baseball play DALE – Jack Rooker homered in a 2-for-4 outing while Jackson Harris went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored Friday as the Dale Pirates knocked off the Newcastle Racers 6-3. Matthew Sharp (1-for-2) and Easton Edmonson (1-for-3) each drove in a run as Sharp walked once while Edmonson scored once and drew a walk.
Shawnee High School students representing the Gordon Cooper Technology Center (GCTC) Biomedical Debate Team have been named the State Champion in the Biomedical Debate competition at the Oklahoma HOSA–Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference. Their outstanding performance has earned them a spot at the upcoming HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, this June.
Shawnee High School student Kiley Sartin recently participated in the prestigious Page Program at the Oklahoma State Capitol, gaining firsthand experience with state government and the legislative process.
Seminole State College will host Dr. John Hassell, associate professor of software development at the University of Oklahoma Polytechnic Institute and former SSC student, for a presentation titled “AI Myths: A Clear Look at Artificial Intelligence.” The event will take place Wednesday, April 23 at 9 a.m.
