Tickets on sale to hear John C. Maxwell at OBU's Green and Gold Gala

Oklahoma Baptist University John C. Maxwell, No. 1 New York Times bestselling author, world-renowned speaker, leadership expert and founder of Maxwell Leadership, will be the keynote speaker at Oklahoma Baptist University’s 10th Green and Gold Gala at 7 p.m., April 1, 2025. The event will take place at the Recreation and Wellness Center on OBU’s campus in Shawnee, Okla. This annual event raises critical funds for the Shape the Future Campaign at OBU. Tickets are now available for purchase. Due to high demand, early ticket purchases are encouraged as seating is based on sponsorship level and purchase date. Sponsorship and corporate tables are available, along with individual tickets. An individual ticket is priced at $150, including dinner. Of this, $75 will go directly toward the Shape the Future Campaign as a tax-deductible gift. Severe storms impact area, prompt Red Cross assistance

After a stormy weekend with tornadoes in central Oklahoma, including many homes damaged in south Oklahoma City and Harrah area, Monday's storm resulted in Shawnee and Pottawatomie County being under tornado warnings as severe storms rolled through, bringing wind and heavy rainfall. There were no immediate reports of any damage involving Monday's storms, but storm spotters noted there were several areas of rotation in the county.

Seminole crushes Mannford, 44-21

MANNFORD – Dontre Garfield ran for two touchdowns and passed for another while Donavin Garfield ran for 179 yards on 10 carries and scored once as the Seminole Chieftains jumped out to a 32-0 cushion and cruised to a 44-21 thumping of the host Mannford Pirates Friday night in District 3A-2 action. Dontre Garfield was 9-of-14 passing for 141 yards as he connected with Jay Ladd for a 65-yard score.
