English friend Sally sent pictures of having a great time at The Green Man Festival (August 15-18) in the Brecan Beacons, Wales. In the Welsh language it is called Bannau Brychieiniog (Ban-eye Bruh-khayn- yog). Welsh is a complex language, but quite rhymical. I love hearing the Welsh converse, although I haven’t a clue what they’re saying even though I have Welsh ancestors. Obviously, language skills are not passed down through the DNA.

As an agenda item during this week’s Shawnee City Commission meeting, Shawnee City Manager Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer brought before the board consideration and approval of her hiring of Kimberly Smith as the city’s new finance director and city treasurer.
This week a public hearing was offered to give residents an opportunity to talk about a proposed amendment to Chapter 22 of Shawnee’s Municipal Code -- more specifically adopting a new Unified Development Code of zoning ordinances.
