A defendant charged with first-degree murder in the 2023 shooting death of a Shawnee man has been formally sentenced to serve life in prison with the Department of Corrections.

A defendant charged in connection with two robberies and assaults at the downtown Shawnee post office earlier this year has pleaded not guilty and his next court date is now scheduled Dec. 17.
