Grant aids in Shawnee's fight against opioids

The City of Shawnee is grateful for the recently awarded Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board grant that will fund a city initiative aimed at addressing the opioid crisis within the community. This initiative involves collaboration among the Shawnee Fire Department, Shawnee Police Department, and Shawnee Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team officers, as well as various civic and faith-based organizations.

Miniature horse show set at Expo this weekend

The Last Chance Showdown is a miniature horse show sponsored by the Oklahoma Miniature Horse Club Inc. (OMHCI) beginning at 8 a.m. each day, with an American Miniature Horse Registry (AMHR) & Pony show beginning Saturday, August 3, 2024, and an American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA) show on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo, 1700 W. Independence St., in Shawnee, approximately 3-1/2 miles South on Hwy. 177 from Exit 181 off of I-40.
