I have been trying to garden for many years and have had many successes and failures. But I will not accept defeat. So, last year I took the master gardener class at the OSU extension center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Since that time, my friends and family think I have all the gardening answers; I want to confess I do not. I'm still learning as I hope each of us are each day. I still have questions that require much more intelligence with which I was gifted, so that requires research and diligence on my part.

Some of the best quality vegetables in Oklahoma are harvested in the fall when warm sunny days are followed by cool, humid nights. Under these weather conditions, plant soil metabolism is low; therefore, more of the food manufactured by the plant goes into making better vegetables. Fall is the perfect season to garden - no bugs, watering, weeds, or sweat – at least not nearly as much as in the summer.
