SHAWNEE — Avedis Foundation hosted its 8th annual “Celebrate Educators” event on Friday, Aug. 22 at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, welcoming nearly 2,400 educators from Pottawatomie County and public school districts from the neighboring communities of Seminole, Prague, Meeker, Chandler, and Little Axe.
The Shawnee Wolves faced off against Blanchard, Noble and Chickasha Friday night in football scrimmage action. After a round robin with each team facing the other in short spurts, Noble took on Chickasha and Blanchard faced Shawnee in a half game.

Shawnee softball swept a double header against Putnam City North Friday in a couple of closely contested games. Nana Martin had an RBI and a run scored in the first game.
