SHAWNEE — The annual Pack the School event once again united communitypartners, volunteers, and educators in a shared mission: ensuring teachers have the resources they need tostart the school year strong. This year, the event supported 300 classrooms across Shawnee PublicSchools, Macomb Public Schools, Grove Public Schools, Asher Public Schools, Tecumseh Public Schools,McLoud Public Schools, Pleasant Grove Public Schools, and other schools in Pottawatomie County, with allPottawatomie County teachers invited to attend.
With classes beginning on Aug. 18 and enrollment open through Aug.
Cleveland, McClain, Pottawatomie Counties – With the new school year, Pioneer Library System is excited to offer a variety of online resources to help students of all ages succeed. Homework Help, located on the PLS website, features tools designed to support learners of all ages.
Voters in eight central Oklahoma counties, including 63 voters casting ballots in Pottawatomie County, overwhelming rejected a proposed millage increase on their property taxes Tuesday that would have funded a proposition for Mid-America Technology Center (MATC). The proposal, which asked for a 3 mill increase for its building fund, failed with 75.15 percent voting against it.
As of July 15, more than 3,000 flash flood warnings had been issued in communities across the United States – that’s the highest on record for the time period since the modern alert system went into effect in the mid-1980’s. Vehicles across the country have been trapped in those rising and rushing flood waters this year.
Though there is no mention of it on the City of Shawnee website, at shawneeok.org, or on the Shawnee Animal Shelter page, no adoptions will be allowed for the next couple weeks.
