Area students can apply for four-year Positive Energy Scholarship

From now until Feb. 15, 2023, Oklahoma and Arkansas high school seniors are encouraged to apply for the 2023 OGE Positive Energy Scholarship. With its administrative partner the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, OGE Energy Corp. Foundation awards this scholarship to three deserving students and provides them with $15,000 per year, renewable annually for up to four years, or a total of $60,000 to cover tuition, books, fees and on-campus room and board.

Educators hone creativity at 2022 Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute

Shawnee-area teachers attend workshops “Every time I attend the Fall Arts Institute I come back invigorated with rediscovering myself as an artist and not just an art educator.” LONE WOLF – Nearly 300 Oklahoma educators, including many from the Shawnee and Tri-County area, earned professional development hours and joined with other adults in improving their crafts during the Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute (OFAI), a series of intensive weekend workshops taught by nationally renowned artists in the literary, visual and performing arts. Tribal Fest held at SSC

Seminole State College grant programs observed National Native American Heritage month by hosting Tribal Fest – an educational and cultural celebration - on Wednesday. The College’s Student Support Services (SSS) and Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTI) programs provided informational booths, a pow wow sweat demonstration, free healthy snacks and “fancy dancing” in an effort to provide a robust cultural experience for all students.
