Monsters on Main draws costumed crowd

Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County’s first go at operating Shawnee’s favorite spooky-fest is a wrap. From a mummy-wrapping contest to costume competitions, a carnival, Trick-or-Treating, a DJ and lots of food and retail vendors, the fall event – newly named Monsters on Main (formerly Boo on Bell) – entertained residents of all ages.

Shawnee Fire Training Chief honored

Shawnee Fire Department Training Chief David Underwood, on Friday, received the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the community. Underwood completed four years of coursework in the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
