SPS Students involved in the Horace Mann Elementary after school program have adopted The Regency Nursing Home in Shawnee. Tammy Keller, coordinator, said they are making plans to visit residents at The Regency once a month as part of their community service projects.
First United Bank, 2675 N. Harrison (on the southeast corner of Harrison and MacArthur), routinely hosts a food truck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays at its site. This Thursday’s featured lunch rush destination is J&J BBQ.
Local reports It may be September, but it’s still warm in Oklahoma and area residents can enjoy an extended season at the city’s two splash pads. The splash pads at both Boy Scout Park at Main and Pesotum, and Shawnee Splash, Highland and Broadway, will remain open until Oct.

BancFirst Shawnee, Tecumseh, and McLoud want to invest in school-sponsored organizations, groups, and teams. Applications are now being accepted for potential donations of $250 or $500 as part of their Pottawatomie County Public School Donation Program.

DEAR ABBY: I have been with my boyfriend for nine years. Over the last three months or so we have been fighting. It started when I bought a cabinet for our bathroom.
