The International Finals Youth Rodeo crowned 11 new youth athletes as 2022 IFYR Champions Friday night and dished out $250,000 on prize money over six-days. The Shawnee event featured over 965 entries from 32 different states.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Two neglected tigers rescued from a long-shuttered roadside tourist attraction in Oklahoma are beginning new lives more than 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) away at California’s Oakland Zoo after receiving much-needed medical treatment.
The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education has awarded more than $4.5 million in lottery funds. CareerTech awarded $2,064,816 in grants to 26 technology centers for the 2022-23 school year and $2,056,516 in grants to K-12 school districts for the 2022-23 school year, along with 388 scholarships worth a total of $400,150 for the 2021-22 school year.

Longtime Executive Director of the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, Marci Donaho, retired on July 15. Her successor is Eileen Castle, formerly of the Science Museum Oklahoma and Director of the Oklahoma Museum Network. Assisting the new Executive Director will be Tonya Ricks of Shawnee, who was employed at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art for 16 years. She will serve as the Associate Director.
