OBU presents Hobbs Award at SBC Annual Meeting in California

Oklahoma Baptist University presented the Herschel H. Hobbs Award for Distinguished Denominational Service to Dr. Jonathan Jarboe June 14 during the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California. Jarboe serves as president and CEO of The Baptist Foundation of California. OBU President Dr. Heath A. Thomas presented the award to Jarboe during a special ceremony held at the OBU booth in the exhibit hall of the Anaheim Convention Center.

Community participates in 2022 Corn Stock Tournament

The Shawnee Police Department hosted the 2022 Corn Stock Tournament June 11 on Broadway Street and Main Street. The winners of the tournament included: First place: Allen Thompson and Shane Brakebill from Shifa and Shane; Second place: Bill Horner and Gary Rhodes from Bill and Gary; Third place: Tyler Harrison and Chicago Herron from Cornholio; and Fourth place: Corey Sand and Joe Townley from Kickin U.

AAA Route 66 Road Fest Centennial celebration begins

Travelers from across the country and around the world will be in Oklahoma City this weekend to kick off a five-year countdown to the 2026 centennial celebration of Route 66. There will be car shows, live music, family activities and a journey through time and nostalgia on the Mother Road. The AAA Route 66 Road Fest will be held at the Bennett Event Center at OKC Fairgrounds. Gates are open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 18 and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 19.
