So, is this a plant question? Give me a minute and we will get there. Spring in Oklahoma comes with many joys, and a few challenges. May is such a busy month with Mother’s Day, graduations, the end of school and then there is tornado season. Flowers are coming into bloom and summer is beginning. This is followed by June, a traditional month for weddings. Many of you may celebrate anniversaries this month, so don’t forget!
Seminole State College held a pinning ceremony at the Enoch Kelly Haney Center on May 23 for nursing students expected to meet degree requirements in the spring semester. This semester marked the 50th year the College has offered its nursing program.

On May 21, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced a Salmonella outbreak linked to Jif brand peanut butter that was sold at stores nationwide. The recall includes several types and sizes of creamy, crunchy and natural peanut butter.

The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art announced a new program early this year, Art & Nature in Health and Wellness that consists of handson training with 56 instructional hours. The Art & Nature in Health and Wellness program is led by Madeline Rugh, PhD., ATR-BC and consists of three parts. The second training Greening the Lifecycle is scheduled for June 4 from 9am – 5pm. Registration is open to anyone
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1317 recently hosted 260 riders from California on their way to The Wall in Washington D.C. The Post gave the riders a place to rest and were fed.
Tyler and Lacey Holt, Impact City, friends, and Shawnee Forward Ambassadors came together recently to celebrate the grand opening of Laynie’s TreeHouse, at 4901 N. Kickapoo, Suite 1578, in Shawnee.
A group of three journalism students and one alumna from Oklahoma Baptist University recently took home awards in the media competition at the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association awards held in April. The students combined to win three first place awards and one second place award.
